A Message from the Founder

Why “Soulfege”?
The name “Soulfege” was inspired by the musical term solfege which refers to a method used to teach pitch and sight singing using the syllables (do, re, mi, fa, so, la and ti) representing the seven principal pitches of the major scale. I wanted a name that represented music but was also creative while capturing a deeper meaning. Spelling “Solfege” with “Soul” fit the bill. I believe music should come from the soul and be fuel for the soul.

What our students and parents say about us:

“What I like best about lessons is that Mr. Kim uses some humor while teaching and isn’t so strict. What I like best about Mr. Kim is that he is patient and understanding if you didn’t have time to practice one day. But I always practice.” - Tobin W. (student, age 9)

"What I like about Ms. Raj is that she is an excellent teacher and she is patient and friendly with her students. She boosts their confidence and makes sure they are moving ahead in the right direction.” - Mickey K. (parent)

"Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel. If we are to hope for a society of culturally literate people, music must be a vital part of our children's education." ~ Yo-Ya Ma

We are incredibly proud of our students’ hard work!

Awesome performance of "I'm a Fine Musician" by piano student, Jordan, age 7 at our Winter Recital 2017.

“Music is an outburst of the soul.”
