We offer in-home and online cello lessons in the Washington DC area for all ages and levels with experienced and patient teachers. We are primarily focused on beginner cello for children starting at age 5 and up. Our passionate teachers tailor their teaching to the student’s goals and interests.
Lessons are taught incorporating a balanced combination of The Suzuki Method as well as other traditional teaching methods. The basic elements of the Suzuki Method are listening, motivation, proper technique, repetition and reinforcement. The underlying goal is to nurture a child not only in musical abilities but as a complete human being. Our teachers focus on building a solid foundation using various technique books to help develop all aspects of mastering an instrument.
Soulfege Music Studio provides students with opportunities to perform in recitals twice a year. Recitals are a terrific way for students to stay motivated, build confidence, master performance anxiety and show off their hard work. Teachers work with their students to choose repertoire and even help compose original pieces!
What I like about Ms. Raj is that she is an excellent teacher and she is patient and friendly with her students. She boosts their confidence and makes sure they are moving ahead in the right direction.

Before your first lesson, your teacher will be in touch to let you know if there are any specific method books or supplies that are required. Essentials like a pencil and notebook are great to have on hand to write down weekly assignments and notes for the student.
